I want to answer a question:
Should you aim to be a local coach, a national coach, or a global coach?
The answer might surprise you and be easier than you think.
So one of my coach marketing members asked me a question on a live Q&A call the other day about:
Should they aim to own a geographic area like a local market, should they go nationwide (in this case across Australia) or should they go global?
It’s actually easier in 90% of cases to go global than it is to go local because the number of people in your set target market is going to be infinitely bigger and you can leverage technology in a way that you just can’t with a local market. In the past I’ve seen coaches, do a whole lot of you know a like a franchise company or a licensed company might slice up a territory into little boxes and you get this area and then you get that area and you get that area. Coaches feel like great! I own this area and no one else can come in.
Think about it logically. Who benefits from that? Well, obviously the person that sold you the license for that little box benefits from that arrangement. There is no benefit for you limiting yourself geographically. Absolutely no benefit what so ever. It’s just a way for the company that sold you the license to slice up an area and give you that little piece.
Just Think About It!
I even had one coach say “I own this area and it keeps the competitors out.” It doesn’t keep any competitors out. The only people, it keeps out is the other people in the same license or franchise group as you. So it’s fictitious and you know that it’s a waste of your time.
The Answer to the Question…
So don’t try to be local. If you want to go national you totally can, especially if you have like a live face to face component or a run seminar that makes a lot of sense.
If you’re a coach with an expertise or a have a message to share around a particular topic area then global is where it’s up.
So I think the answer is, local is difficult, national is easy, global is easiest of all.
Would you go for global? Why or why not?
