In this quick episode of AskTaki, I’m going to answer a very interesting question: “What process did you use to discover your big hairy audacious goal?”
It’s a really great question. It’s the first time I’ve been inspired by a goal in nine years.
At the end of every year, we start to think about the next year as you do.
I set goals, and they’re usually the same kind of goals that everyone tells you to do —how many clients do you want, what kind of income do you want.
Some people ask you —like, what kind of stuff do you want to have.
Like, dude, I’ve got all the stuff I need, to be honest. I don’t wear shoes that much, but I liked to buy shoes.
That’s not an inspiring goal.
And every year, I’ve done a number of clients goals, and —or income —revenue goals, and I’ve written them down because you’re supposed to. And neither I nor the team frankly has ever got that excited about it.
And so, this year, I was kind of going through that process where the end of the last year, I was going through that process and a guy called Alex Charfen who is just a great guy, a really good coach, he’s a friend and a client.
He sent me a form and one of the things it asked was, “What financial number would prove to you that you had a really good year?”
And what actually happened was that I completely misread the thing.
I thought it said, “What one number would prove to you that you’d had a really good year?”
And I thought to myself —like, what’s the one number that if we hit that number, it would prove that we’d had a really good year? And the answer came to me instantly.
And so, the one number that would prove to me that we had a really good year was really simple.
What came into my head was this…
If we could get 50 people who’d never got there before to 1 million dollars in a year, that would just be an incredible year.
That’s like the one number that would prove that we’d had a great year.
Just think about that. Like, if we can get 50 people to a million dollars a year who hadn’t been there before.
Just to be really, really clear, the coaching program we’re running is called Black Belt, and its job is to take someone from over 10K a month to 1 million dollars a year. That’s what it does.
Once people are in a million dollars a year or more, we’ve got a mastermind called Boardroom, and we’ve got a small case study group that we run to get people to this point.
But the core of our work is to get someone from six figures to seven. That’s really what we do.
If we can get 50 people to a million dollars a year, we got 16 people there last year, so it’s a step up for us. Right?
If we’re looking at 50 people to a million dollars a year this year, then how easy is marketing going to be? It’s going to be so easy, hey.
We’ve got 50 people there, do you want to be next?
How easy is sales? Right?
It’s changed a ton of the stuff about how we deliver our work. We’ll talk about that in another time. But in answer to the question, what was the process, this was the process —like, what’s the one number that would prove that you’d had a really good year? Hopefully that helps.
By the way, if you’re reading this and you’re over 10K a month right now and you think this could be the year that with some help, you could get to a million dollars a year, just send me a Facebook message here.
And all you have to do is just put the number 50 in it, and I’ll know what that means, and I’ll just reply, and we can have a chat, and see whether we might be able to help you or not.
Every one of our clients is on a path to a million dollars a year. And they’ve got a maximum of three years to do it —either this year, or next year, or the year after the latest.
But if you think this could be your year or you want to do it in the next couple of years, just send me a message and I’d be happy to kind of have a chat and see if maybe we can be useful.
That was the process we used to discover our theme. I’ve kind of misread a question, and the answer popped into my head.
Maybe the question you want to be asking yourself is what’s the one number that would prove to you that this has been a really, really good year? And do whatever that comes naturally after that.
If you want to ask me a question, jump into our Facebook group, The Dojo, and join us there.
Ask me questions you like, and every few days, I’d take one and answer it just like this. Hopefully, this has helped.
And hopefully, I’ll see you on the path to a million dollars a year as well.
Big love. Talk to you soon. Taki Moore, out.
