I’ve been talking a bunch lately with our clients about funnels — the 3 core funnels that can help you grow your coaching business and which one to choose. In this blog post, I will share with you 3-funnel options and which one you should pick for you.
I’m going to get this really simple. Forget about the offer at the front of the funnel for a minute, and think about the offer at the end of the funnel.
Big picture, a funnel can be designed to fill a webinar, it can be designed to fill a live event, or it could be used to fill an appointment calendar for sales calls.
We use different ways to convert coaching clients, but those are the three biggies.
One of our clients, Brandon, just did a workshop and sold $160,000 at his first ever live event using our event funnel.
Fantastic.
Then I got a client called Andre who did $1.8 million dollars in a webinar which is mental. That’s completely bananas.
I’m a big fan of webinars and I’m a huge fan of live events, and when I figured out the webinar model that’s where my business took its first jump.
And when we figured out the event model, that’s when we took our second jump. But we’ve actually changed things up.
I’ve scrapped all of our sales events for the year, and just simplified the funnel down. And so, if you’re not in a million dollars a year yet and that —frankly, 95% of the people who read this aren’t, and that’s completely okay.
If you’re over a million dollars a year, totally cool, the other two are great.
But if you’re not at a million dollars a year yet, then, the perfect funnel for you to be running right now is an appointment funnel.
It’s a simple funnel designed to get you sales calls booked in. The reason I say that is for a bunch of reasons.
Firstly, complexity. And I think all of the things which you have to get right to make a live event work. There’s the ‘I can’t make that date.‘Will you come to my city?’ objection.
There’s a bunch of things which get wrong. And even when you do get them in the room, there’s a bunch of things that you’ve got to get right to make the event work well.
To make a webinar work, obviously, you’ve got your promo and your show up — your sign up rate, your show up rate, your pay up rate, and then your follow up at the end.
I don’t know if most people tell you this, but not everyone’s webinars are that good. Like, most of them suck.
We’ve got some strategies to even if you’re not very good on camera to do a great webinar, but there are things which can go wrong.
The simplest thing for me to teach any coach is how to talk to somebody for 45 minutes and at the end, have the person say, “I’d love to buy your thing —to join your program, to sign up for $10,000 or $20,000 or $30,000 or $40,000 or $50,000.”
And because that’s a really easy learnable skill, then an appointment funnel’s the simplest funnel for you to be running right now.
And so, if you’re just getting started, webinars are amazing. Live events are incredible. But if you’re under a million dollars a year, dude, the number one funnel that you want to have set up in your coaching business is an appointment funnel.
But here’s the thing, regardless of your model right now, the one thing I would say is this, events are incredible, webinars are amazing.
The number one thing you need almost certainly is an appointment funnel.
Forget about all of the other stuff and just go, “What’s the shortest line to get people on the phone?”
