Let’s face it. Running a webinar can be super weird.
If a stranger walked by your desk and saw you talking to your computer for a solid hour, they’d probably think you’d lost your mind. I think we could all get past the initial weirdness, though, if everyone on the webinar was really engaged and you made a ton of sales at the end, right?
Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. People are often unresponsive and don’t buy. It’s really frustrating when you’ve spent a ton of time creating the content and promoting this thing but nobody seems to care.
You know what? It doesn’t have to be that way.
You can get people to engage with you from the very first minute and rush to buy your stuff at the end. How does that sound?
On the last post, we talked about why you need more engagement in your webinar. Now, I want to show you how to do it.
Lecture or Online Workshop?
The first key is about your mindset.
Instead of thinking of your webinar as a lecture that delivers information, I want you to think of it as an online workshop.
Think back to the best live workshop or seminar you’ve ever attended. What made it so good?
Most likely, it was incredibly dynamic. You were engaged the whole time and you had a lot of fun. The person leading it probably had enough confidence to put themselves out there and everyone responded to it.
When they asked a question, people shouted out the answer. They gave you exercises and you rushed to complete them. You were eager to share and collaborate with the people around you.
This interactive environment is what makes a workshop different from a lecture session, and it’s exactly what we want to recreate in your webinar.
To really get into this mindset, I want you to picture three levels of engagement.
Level 1: Information
The most basic level of your webinar is simple: you transfer content or data to your audience. If this is all that happens in your webinar, you’re doing okay, but it could be much better.
Level 2: Transformation
More than informing our audience, we want to create a transformation in them.
A transformation happens when people get engaged with our content, start applying it to themselves, and think about how much better things could be if they implemented our strategies into their lives.
Level 3: Conversation
The way to create transformation is through conversation. Our webinar needs to be a two-way street.
You share with them, they respond back. You ask a question, they give you an answer. We want to create an environment of dialogue, not a platform for monologue.
