I have six wonderful kids, and I talk about them all the time, and I just recently became a granddad.
As a father, I always want what’s best for my children. A good life, good education, good future.
How it all started…
Back in 2009, I fired my boss, then my best mate Mike and I decided to start up a consulting business and help people with their marketing. Everything was really great. We were doing our own thing. We were getting deals and signing up clients. We were so good that we were fully booked in four months time.
We were working so hard that we didn’t have time for other stuff anymore. We had too much stuff to do, but we’re not getting enough money from it. So we decided to go our separate ways.
I was doing one-on-one coaching and consulting, and I was still completely booked. I wanted to go from one-on-one to leverage coaching because I wanted to have flexible time. The main reason why I wanted to change was that of my son, Ethan.
My son has epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy. Aside from that, he’s also hilarious, quick-witted, and very smart. Every time something goes wrong, we go to the hospital and his care becomes all-consuming.
The Climactic Moment
I came home one day, and my wife said, ”I’m pregnant.”
I had mixed emotions. Of course, I was thrilled, and at the same time, I was freaking out because we were struggling financially at the moment. I had to borrow money from my friend just to buy food that week.
I had $200 in the bank when I started this business. It was Sam who asked me how would I’d feel about having a million-dollar-a-year tax bill.
I told him that I don’t want to pay that much tax. Then I realised, I was missing the point. If I had to pay a million dollars a year in taxes, think about how much money I’d be earning.
Then, the rest is history.
Present Day
Now, my family and I have been spending a lot of time together and traveling around the world.
This year, we have been to Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Morocco, Philippines, and so much more.
Traveling from one country to another doesn’t mean that you’re just on a vacation. You’re still working but in a different address. Makes sense?
The best thing about this business is that you can work anywhere in the world, as long as you have a trusty laptop or phone, and a stable internet connection.
You can just write your ideas on paper, or on your iPad, and hand them over to your ninjas as you tell them the instructions, and they’ll take it from there. Your VAs will do the backstage stuff for you, while you’re doing the more important stuff.
You can spend a lot more time with the ones you love, doing all the things you love.
Just like being a father to my kids, and a husband to my wife, I also want the best for my clients. I make sure they get what they deserve or even more than what they deserve to have.
In some countries like the US, UK, Canada, Philippines, Mexico, France, Japan, Singapore (and many more), they are celebrating Father’s Day this month. So to all the awesome hard-working dads out there who will do everything just to give their families everything they need, you all deserve to be honored.
Happy Father’s Day! Cheers!
